Backstory:

Photo taken by Rod Sellers of one of four murals depicting Native Americans in the Calumet and Chicago region at the time of first encounters between white traders/settlers and indigenous groups. Murals were painted by artist Tom Lea in 1928 in the Calumet Park fieldouse. Lea was a student at the Art Institute and apprentice to John W. Norton and would later become a well-known muralist of the American Southwest.
